Both styles feature a removable sternum strap, which means that straps can be worn straight or crossed. D-rings serve as tie-off points for a flat style hood and accessories. I am a plus size woman and often find that waistbands hit me in a weird place and can feel like they dig. This pattern interested me because of the lack of waistband. I was unsure of how comfortable it would be- but it was love at first carry! I wore it on a long plane ride and it didn’t add extra bulk to the already crowded airplane seat. It rolled up super small to pack in my personal bag, too! I really enjoy this pattern! It was my first carrier and I am definitely not a professional. The hardest parts are really more to do with choosing the right supplies than the actual construction. I highly suggest purchasing the hardware and webbing from Sew Toot as well, as it is high quality and weight tested, unlike the craft store alternatives. The owner of the pattern makes herself available to answer and questions and provides very clear pictures to make the process ‘seamless’!

I love this pattern. I am quite small in the torso but have very large hips and the apron style waistband sits at my natural waist and doesn’t dig info my hips. I can carry my child much higher on my back than in other ssc’s but the waistband helps add support, where the buckle onbuhimo pulls only from the shoulders. I have made several different carriers using this pattern and done a few different variations, my favorite being a tie waist. The pattern is super easy to follow and the directions are very clear. I have been sewing all my life and can finish one of these carriers in about 2-3 hours.

We love this carrier! We’ve used many, many different wraps and carriers and this has replaced them all, for my youngest daughter. She really has seemed to prefer wraps and apron-style carriers since birth, and this is the easiest and most comfortable apron style carrier for sure! My husband loves the crossed strap ability.
